I didnt watch the video, but I never did rust before, even though I've always had ox acid on my truck. For wood. My first rust rust removal was F9. Never did it before, it worked Great! I was sold!
I ran out one time and remembered an RCIA post about rust. Took a couple of min., but we found the ox acid. Mixed it up. worked fine on the rust stain.

I aint knocking F9. Not at all! It got me into rust!!! Prob the Best way to get into it without making a mistake.

Video doesn't provide any close up views, but he said it removed 70-75% of the staining. Has anyone ever done a side by side comparison with F9?

Acids remove rust. Oxalic is a mild acid. F9 is a strong acid that is buffered. This means it's designed to be more gentle than strong acids that are not buffered. A side by side would require many samples as rust can thick or light, deep I'm concrete or on the surface. Essentially F9 should work faster and be more effective on thicker and deeper stains.

I buy Oxalic from Univar,..I usually buy a 50 LB. bag,.and it lasts around 2 years. I use it mostly for neutralizing decks after NAOH cleaning. When I is boat bottoms years ago, I would use it for taking the green stain out of the gelcoat.

I think it was around $80.00 last time I bought. They also sell it as wood bleach in some hardware stores. Would be ok I suppose if you only needed a little once in a while,..likely not as cost effective.

I would check ebay.

He actually didn't remove any fo the rust. its all still there....Your just seeing the white haze left by acid products if not rinsed really well, and left to dry as he did. Ox works great on some rust stains, like irrigation, HVAC, and some metal from furniture.....but it's a spray and rinse heavily. At about 3:34 you can see the white haze on the bottom of the metal building.

Art, I see most guys buying Ox off amazon. I personally never use Ox, or anything powered. Just to much a pain and time consuming to mix it.

Along with the F9 product line I also sell this one for....https://www.dougruckerstore.com/products/rust-stain-remover-drsrsr/

F9 we mainly use for batter acid and fertilizer stains....we use the one above in the link for all other types of rust, like HVAC, Irrigation, etc.....
