Lee I think your one of our main Cedar Guy's here. How do you plan on doing this job. Are you going to strip the stain or just hit it with S/H. The job looks on the tuff side. Make sure you charge a premium price and keep us updated on the project. We are all interested in cedar cleaning. Your work always seems to be top notch. Good Luck with it.

Art-
This is actually some pictures that I pulled off the internet when they originally bought the house about 5 years ago- it had just been cleaned and oiled. There is currently no stain on the shakes or decking so we will come in and clean with a light house-wash mixture followed with lots or rinsing and oxalic acid on the shakes followed by another rinse... after 3 days or so of drying we will return to finish the wood. I normally do not seal cedar, but after informing the homeowner he said seal it, he doesn't want to have to pay this bill every few years. The home is right on the water and takes alot of abuse from the salt and hurricanes, so I can see the benefit of sealing the wood, and I can't say no! Still trying to work out a price.. When I return to measure when its not raining ill take more pictures!

you should hire an assistant to right down your measurements - that house is huge with all the decks walls and roofing. GOOD LUCK!!

Very simple to measure Lee. Just count 10'x10' squares. Eye ball it. Been measuring vinyl siding that way for years. If your over by a few Sq. thats good on your end. No need to spend hours measuring with a ruler.

yeah I agree, with that many angles and decks and all, I will be doing a bit of guest-a-mating or I will need to charge him just to measure the area!

Lee just do what I said, 10x10 quares. Count each wall twice til you get it. Once you do it a few time you will get it. I measure a siding job in less the 10 minutes and get it right on the Money.
