BTW is there any good gutter cleaner that is concentrated that can be used with a pick up tube with a power washer to hit high gutters without scrubbing ?

The advantages of using waterfed poles are they are light and can reach high gable ends or 3 storey gutters easily or even higher if needed.

Jeff, I have done a lot of gutters without any complaints, in fact we get lots of recommendations from our customers. We have lots of pvc gutters which are easier to clean for a start. As for using ladders to clean 3 stories up your welcome to it. As far as I'm concerned its a lot safer and easier to clean from the ground plus working at height regulations over here specify that ladders should not be used if there is a viable alternative.

A use reverse osmosis on gutters or pvc and some painted wood sufaces works a treat no burn a use the water feed pole that comes with the the kit removes black mold algi and moss even changes colour when R.O water is used and its safe .no burns or damage to plants below cheap to make its just water pumped through a filter then up to gutter the filters last ages well depending on the water we have soft water here no limescale or that ,and you can also do the windows with it
have any of you's tried just R.O water on gutter

thanks for the great find! Tried a pail this week and it works just as good as gutter Granade, with no harsh side effects. Smells good too! Only issue i had was the $35.00 shipping cost to NJ. I am going o order a 55 gallon drum to cheapen up the got per gallon after shipping.

I do not get a dime for this plug, but you guys have helped me grow a successful business, so if we can throw a bone, we will.

My customers are actually impressed when we tell them we have a citrus based cleaner formulated specifically for gutter brightening.

We under promise gutter cleaning and so far every time the delivery has been way way past expectations of our customers, much to their delight. We also have much better success on vinyl window frames using this product that any other thing we have tried, so we are pretty happy we tried it.

I will get caught up soon and post some pictures of results we are getting.

I am not here to argue right or wrong when it comes to chemicals, but we choose to use "industry specific" products and charge premium prices. We are not bashful when it comes to showing what chemical we use. Our customer base is not DIY, so they like the fact we are the authority and have taken the time to research and perfect our process.

I am not looking forward to the day another competent company shows up in my market, but until then we will enjoy the ride.

We have one company that once in awhile gets a job, but they have not figured out that a roof shingle is not carpet so their method of cleaning is lame at best. Additionally, they never do the rest of the project, so when our work is side by side one looks like they had a professional company perform the service and the other looks like...


We even stopped shampooing carpet in our flooring division decades ago... Just sayin'

Hey Tim,..not sure what products you've used int he past,...but in my experience, temperature is a big factor in ALL gutter cleaners,..especially when it comes to removing the stripes. On the right day, you should be able to clean gutters with a handful of even off the shelf stuff. I use Purple Power,..but pretty much anything butyl based will work,..I know some guys even use Mean Green from the Dollar Store. Whatever you choose, products seem to work better when sprayed on rather than just brushed on,..I think the air helps churn up the cleaning agents better. Not scientific fact, but it seems so for me.

With that said, all gutters aren't going to brighten up and look new again. When you're looking at the work you need to evaluate and let the customer know what's coming. Some I can look at and can say without a doubt they'll be bright,..others I say,..not sure what we got there but we will get them the best they can be for the condition they're in.

 This product in the discussion is probably a fine gutter cleaner,..but still seems over priced for the job at hand. Someone said shipping is like $35.00 for a 5 gallon bucket, on top of whatever it costs?   I get get Purple Power for around $19.00 a bucket and free shipping to the house. So, for the cost of JUST shipping the citrus product, I could get almost 10 gallons of Purple Power. 

From Steve's description of dilution, it sounds similar to most other gutter cleaners.

NOW, with that all said,..maybe you'd rather have a better smell or gentler product,..that's more of a personal thing than performance thing though.

 * Not looking to dispute the product, just trying to give a perspective other's may be able to benefit from. 
Because think about it,..why would I care what someone buys!

Just trying to be a benefit to the board,..and nothing else!!

Hey Doug,...I agree,..Magic Erasers work very well! And as you said,.. ESPECIALLY when used with Purple Power. I buy them 100 at a time from an ebay vendor. I keep them in a 5 gallon bucket, and we use them on every house wash.

I started thinking outside the box a little on this subject last season. And found a great recipe for cleaning gutters,.especially in cold weather. The addition of Propanone to some Purple Power,..about 50/50. The two compliment each other very well,..I don't even spray this mixture,.I simply brush it on lightly,..and then a few strokes more aggressively and the black begins to break down,..even in 40 or 50 degree weather.

The product is around $18.00 a gallon,.but it works very well,.and doesn't take much when you use the dip method. And the use of a melamine sponge and this mix will remove any gutter streaks you will encounter,.even in the coldest temps. It is relatively safe and can be had at any hardware store and sold to the general public. Just read the label so you know what you're working with,..as you should any chemical.

We started using Dragon Juice.....works great in any temp...and many times if they aren't really bad, no scrubbing needed. If scrubbing is needed it's usually just one light brush stroke and done.
