I'm bidding on an apartment complex to PW the walls in breezeway - hardibacker siding.  They want to repaint the hardi and the painter doesn't want to PW.  What do you guys use for soap to prep for paint.  Mostly dust and some oils from skin contact going up the stairs.

I once heard about painters having someone else to the power washing for the owner prior to paint......and if the paint job doesn't hold up they blame it on thw power washer....

I told the PM that she would have to have the painter check the first building after we did. Typically once another trade goes after the other, then they have accepted that the substrate is to their standards if they proceed. When I worked for a drywall manufacturer, the finisher always bitched at the guy hanging drywall, the guy hanging drywall bitched about framer, and the painter always bitched about the finisher(all of this was in spanish).

If it's chalky you need to use a degreaser its reduces the chalk and the paint will hold. I do lots of paint prep and haven't had a problem yet. I use a house wash mix and a degreaser after.
