I bought a used Mi t m surface cleaner from Home depot, but had to return it. The spray bar had a slight bend to it, and made the surface cleaner vibrate. I argued with them saying that is what caused the vibration. They said it was normal . Anyways I got my $$$ back. Now I'm in the market for another one. I hear good things about the Whisper Wash. But I was looking to spend a little less. What do you guys like? Is there anything a little cheaper that can perform?  (4.2 gallon machine 4000 psi Mi t m )

If you want to go a little cheaper you can look into a 18" GP. I think they fixed them buy now. Call Bob at Pressure Tek and see what he says.

The general pump hammerhead is also crap!! That's part of the reason they're so affordable. If you get a cheap surface cleaner make sure it has a greasable zert fitting . Whisper washes are great quality machines. I am not opposed to cheap ones at all, in fact all three of my trucks are outfitted with cheap surface cleaners, because when running crews they tend to abuse the crap out of them. But even I won't stoop as low as a hammerhead!

I started out with a M-Ti-M because I was at Sherwin-Williams when the rep was leaving after a summer event and got it really cheap. It did well for a while but now that we have the WW I would never buy anything else. I'll keep the M-Ti-M as a back up.

WW Classic is our choice with our 5.5gpm machine.  Like others said we beat ours up and it constantly performs.

Hank

PS...here are some photos of work it handles.

My Mosmatic came as a floater,..but I put wheels on it,..and made it so much better. BUT,..the reason that was is I had a 21" machine with 4 GPM,...so I was waaaay under powering the surface cleaner,..(Hey,..That's before I knew better,Ha,Ha,)   It was also a big heavy old stainless steel version.

So with that in mind I,..when I was buying a new surface cleaner  last season I kept an open mind about floaters and especially the Whisper Wash Classic,..because now I run 8 GPM,...PLENTY enough to make it float,..fly sometimes even,...I got that figured out though.

So now I prefer the no wheels,..wheels just get in the way,..and stop turning with any little piece of debris.

Matching the surface cleaner to the machine is the key, especially matching the nozzles.  I think the rule of thumb is: 4 inches for every GPM,..so if you have a 4GPM machine 16" is the "Ideal" size surface cleaner,..But I'm sure many guys run the Whisper Wash with 4GPM machines,..but at least match the nozzle. It may or may not float though?  I would think the PSI is what makes it float,..so I think it should?,...Maybe someone can chime in who has actual experience at 4GPM.

Jeff

Yeah jeff I have an old (15-20 yrs) Simpson aluminum one, got to get stats on it and I forgot the gpm of my machines but most recent is a 4200psi 4gpm? Champion  with 6 gal gas tank, runs all day per fillup. Gotta look at it today but it works good with the floater, others underpowered.
Someone posted a chart, 4" per gpm sounds right.

I think its a 20" surface cleaner

Marco,..you'll be glad you did. Also,..one thing about our services or any services for that matter is,..don't make the easy parts hard. Getting the right equipment is the easy part,..(Albeit, will cost you more),..but it's still the easy part. Learning goes sooo much better when you have the proper tools. Kinda' like the old saying,.."Making your own luck"

*Just an analogy: I remember as a kid of about 14 I wanted to learn how to use a baitcasting reel,..but didn't want to spend my hard earned grass mowing money on a better reel,..so I bought the cheapo,..and couldn't get the hang of it,..and hated baistcasting reels. But,.the next year I bought an Ambassadeur 5500c,..which is a good reel,...and an amazing thing happened,..I was able to cast within a few days. It was the tool,..that made the difference,..and made the experience so much better.

There's a local 10 year old boy that became my friend  a few years ago,..and even when he was 6,..and I bought him his first rod and reel,..I didn't buy him the Scooby Doo or Spongebob combo,..I bought him a good set,..I wanted his fishing experience to be positive,..and using the proper tools helps in the experience...And as I said,..That is the easy part.  And believe me,..when you take a kid fishing you need to be focused on the fishing,..more than the equipment,..Ha,Ha,..

Just like us,..buying good equipment allows you to focus on the work instead of struggling with the tools.

Jeff
