I have took people's advice and done all the reading on downstreaming that I can find.

I can tell that I should buy a remote box soap box. Can anyone tell me what name brand is the best to use. I'm sure I'm going to want a high frequency one so I can shut the soap off with out having line of sight. Any info will be appreciated ty.

I'll also need a bypass hose and ball valve but I understand pressure tek is the place to go for that. Right?

I just got a ball valve and I can't believe I lived without one. I don't downstream, but I love it for rinsing driveways and not having to cut my washer off to switch between the wand and the surface cleaner.

I got this one and it's really nice (http://www.pressuretek.com/hedubava.html). Go ahead and pop the little silver cap off and throw it away though. It's gonna fall off anyway.

Everybody  doesn't use Russ Johnsons $275.00 remote,..I know some do,..but some just make their own for way less,..I know for a fact one can be made for around $50.00 and can be made to operate in a few minutes,.and be plumbed in and ready to use in less than a half hour.,.and end up with just as good a unit. And will work easily through any obstacles you encounter.

The $275.00 remote can be made with the same components for less than $100.00.

(Which frankly aren't much better than the cheaper components,..especially the key fob remote that comes with $275.00 unit)  The Dema 481P is a good valve though,..but not worth the extra expense,..you can (6) of the cheaper ones for the cost of one Dema,.. and will work just as well,..and actually have Viton plunger,.The stock Dema is EPDM.

You can make your own remote very easily,.there are posts on this site that I made a few months ago that will give you the details.

Jeff

You have a remote with power (4) wires,..two come in from the battery and two go out to the solenoid. Viola,..you have a working remote. Add hose barbs to the solenoid,..the soap injector hose plugs into these barbs,..one in to your bucket and one to the soap injector.. the remote solenoid is now spliced between your soap bucket and injector. Very simple,...you now have a working DS remote.

*Actually,.you would add the hose barbs to the solenoid before the wiring,..but I was trying to make it simple.

Yea I hear what you're saying,.but it IS simple. You don't even need a battery powered pressure washer to have one,..I have a spare stand alone remote unit that can be simply spliced in the soap injector line and be working in about a minute.

This unit costs about $50.00- $60-00 to make which includes the battery to operate it and the box to house it.

*Anita,.I used to think they have to be complicated as well,..until I put one together,..really VERY simple.

Sure,..I will sell it to you and you can then look at it and see how simple it is and then maybe make the next one yourself,..which will be your spare. Let me get a shipping cost tomorrow and we will make arrangements from there. I will charge you only what I have in it +Shipping.

I actually have (3) remote units,..two on board and the other spare on standby,..which is the one I will sell you.

Do you have a Pay-Pal account?

Jeff

And also remember that DS'ing will NOT do for roof cleaning,..you need a dedicated pump and other apparatus for that.

Right, because downstreaming won't allow enough of to chemical out at a time to do roofs correct?

Well,.it's not hard at all,..but you still need to understand it. Simple things like the proper direction the injector has to be placed,.how length of hose play a role,..sizing the injector to your machine,..or "under sizing" to say it better,.once you get 200' of hose. The injector needs rinsed after each job or it will stick the next day,..and sometimes will anyhow. They start drawing soap at around 800 PSI so you need to size your nozzles properly.

These things will all come up at some point. If you don't have a new injector buy one and have it so it has quick coupler to remove and replace easily.

Here is another site to learn about pressure washing and down streaming .

Anita, just so you understand a Down Stream injector goes on a power washer and you can't wash a roof with it. The S/H isn't strong enough. Most of us started out with a DC 5850 Delavan pump. You can buy the setup at Pressure Tek or make one yourself like most of us did. Keep things simple starting out and go from there. You are just confusing yourself with all these different set ups.
