In the voice of Jimmy Stewart,  "Ahh, It is not often you get to walk the pages of history." The problem is some of that history has left an ugly mark on my house"

We have the privilege and challenge of restoring Jimmy Stewart's family home on top of Vinegar Hill is beautiful Indian, PA.

We have some very stubborn stains on the original concrete stucco surfaces.

We did test areas and have been able to lighten the stains, but not remove them completely-- yet.

I did a very strong mix of SH and detergent.

I also did a test area with One Restore.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated by me and Jimmy!  We want to bring the shine back to this monument in our town!

I have Terra Wash in the shop, but have not had any success with it when we used it in the past. Any insights on it's value will also be appreciated.

It seems 100 plus years has left a black mark on this home, but our goal is to remove it safely. The concrete stucco? is very durable, so it can take some heavy chemistry I believe.

i have found that on concrete stucco that is that old and neglected, it will not clean up to like new. The staining is not only on the surface, but completely through the stucco. If you get to aggressive with the cleaning you will ruin the stucco. Some of the stones will become dislodged. We cleaned a home this summer that was built in 1901 and has never been washed. Same kind of stucco. When we quoted the job we met with the homeowner, a historic preservation specialist, and a painter out of Chicago. It was determined that some of the staining was bleeding through the stucco. We were able to clean up most of the staining, and make it suitable for re-coating. The owners new this was the steps that were needed to bring it back to original appearance.

There will Be a stain left behind for sure so just make sure in your contract you have it written down somewhere. You will definitely help clean it but maybe Ray can chime in and help you.
