I did and liked it, but I sprayed some red clay remover through it and it dried the seals. I'm gonna get a new seal kit and try it again cause it was nice to use. Someone handy could build one just as nice with a small battery I think.

This isn't a bad sprayer,..for what it is,..but what pump is it and can it be replaced as cheaply as other 12V pumps? This isn't a bad idea but the the chemicals we use almost require things to be replaced as part of any tools value. And I'm fairly certain the trigger valve is gonna go bad,..unless people don't use these spot sprayers the way I do,...with VERY harsh chemicals,..for spot spraying.

Bryan,..I did build one,.and in my unbiased opinion,..it stands alone compared to the others that have popped up since. I made one from wood first,.and then one from aluminum,..and had another one made for this season. I can put a (1) gallon jug of whatever in,.and then remove it and place in another jug of whatever and keep spraying. Although that is a benefit I rarely use,..I prefer to have (2) of these on hand,..one with acid and one with 12.5% ,..simply for spot spraying,..so (1) gallon is plenty. I replaced my wooden one with the second aluminum.

I have a charging jack coming from the back of the sprayer and can plug it into a charger,...but what I did this year is, I tied into my vans electrical system and can now charge my 12V's as I'm driving down the road.

And the best part is my batteries are cheap and so are the pumps,.and they are both readily available,...and the pumps are pretty darn tough when it comes to chemicals. The pumps can be swapped in about 15 minutes max.

*Due to the fact that I spray really strong chemicals from these,.I use 1/2" union ball valves from TSC,..these ball valves are much easier to turn than standard ball valves,.and are just as resilient,...No trigger I had used would hold up to 12.5% just sitting in there or really strong acids.

We liked ours but found them to be very fragile. So, just be aware of the need to baby this thing. When they work, it is really a great tool

Had two and they both stopped working and both would not charge....they were replaced and they are both sitting in the shop brand new never opened yet. In the time they stopped working and getting replacements we went with a chem caddy that James Faulbauer sells and thats all my guys will take out now. Truthfully in the time it time takes to put that thing together I could be 1/2 way done spraying what I need to spray with a pump up sprayer....

I fried mine with acid I think. I just got in a new seal kit and am gonna try to rebuild it since the pump comes on. I really liked using it when it worked. I also like the mods that Al Patterson did where he quick connects onto the pump up sprayer tanks.

For anyone interested,.it is VERY easy to put your own 12V sprayer together. Open your mind up to how simple it is. It's nothing but components,.that's it. And you can use whatever 1 GPM 12V pump and small battery you choose. Buy the hose local and add a trigger of your choice. Very easy project once the parts are at hand,..which they are very easy to find.

All this guys caddy is is an igloo cooler with the parts stuck inside,.at least that's what it was when I seen it last. Doesn't take a genius of innovation to throw a pump and battery in a cooler and leave room for a (1) gallon jug.

I know some people say,.."Oh, I haven't the time",.I say BS to that,..Order online and wait for the stuff to get there,..then on your work route stop and buy some clear PVC hose at ACE or wherever. And when you get your parts stay off the internet for the 1 hour it takes to get it together and,.you'll save money,.and now have the means to build another when you're ready.

Simple to me is order it already put together and use it.....Its not really BS Jeff. I just prefer to use my time more wisely. Its to each there own really....it's like the downstream remotes, I ordered the parts you suggested, guess where they are, still sitting in the envelopes they were mailed in.

Yea,,.I know Doug,.it's not always BS,..but in some cases it is where people say they don't have an hour of time to put into their business,..that is BS. None of us are that busy,.many of us are off or really scaled down during the Winter months. Using time wisely is up to the person for sure,...but when someone says they don't have time to learn about the ins and outs of their tools. At least you say you'd rather not assemble, and that's a good reason....but there isn't hardly anyone who doesn't have the time if they have the interest. We all seem to have time to mess on the internet. I know these sites are for trading information,.and that's what I do,..try to help people to be more self reliant if they choose,..simply by stating the ease of some of these tools,..that are essentially just components.

I sometimes wonder though why I do bother, because it really doesn't matter to me if someone learns or not,..I just post for the ones who may want to I guess. I never wanted to be a taker,.I like to give as well.

I see there is an improved version and was trying to order but..

WHAT A PAIN IN THE AZZ to order, its the most 'ucked up site i ever dealt with, going in circles to enter info AND no phone # to just call and order!

Now I'm weary to give them my C.C. # lookin a little shady.

Still want one as it will pay for itself on very 1st job as i got a big job that also has rust on steep slate roof that i cant get to with pump up sprayer.

Any feedback on its performance would be appreciated

I can tell you from experience when you have problems with it, not if, but when, you will be glad you wet through Jracenstein....otherwise its back to the IPS site and well....you know what will happen. I spent months going back and forth w emails with them, on their site, trying to order nozzles. Finally Jracenstein just replaced the whole dang sprayer kit.

Overall Doug, what was your take on it?

What problems did you have as well as how often did you use it? I can see everyday use and being abused (thrown around dropped etc) by lesser help it only lasting a season, if that.

What i like of the V7 is battery mounted up top so sauce doesnt drip down onto base mounted batrery.

When amd why is everything being just over thought out and over built. I loved the more simple design days and builds. I just wish the pro portioner was around then.

I agree Mike. I still build our rigs and most likely will continue until I quit. I have had a few remarks made that I should support the industry but I will not buy anything or buy from a certain vendor just because it's the band wagon at the time. Simple is still a good way to go!

This is just for touch ups, test spots, spot issues like rust esp hard to reach areas as I have the need for.

For the amt of time (time=money) parts and explaining to a helper how to use a homemade rig.

This may be useful.
Plus I can keep in personal/estimator vehicle for the occasional "your guys" missed a spot callback.

Definitly useful when spraying OX on decks for brightening/neutralizing after cleaning before restaining. I cannot use a roof pump for that!

Both batteries stopped working on both units I had and neither charger would work either. I have two brand new units now, and think we only used one once....we just prefer to use the seal n lock bucket pump or Jim Faulhauber chem caddy. The time it takes to take everything out of the case and out together we can actually have sprayed out what we needed to using the other ones. I do know some guys, that love the IPS though and have had good luck with them. Most of them leave them set up and carry around in a 5 gallon bucket

Just saw this old thread.

I bought the Chem Caddy back in 2016 and I got a little over 2 years from the original battery that lasts about 2 hours, it comes with it's own trickle charger to charge overnight.

The original pump is going out, a little over 2.5 years now so I definitely got my money out of it and am very happy with it.

The regular gun that it comes with will not last long if you use it with bleach and acids, it is a pressure washer gun, the poly gun that is made for the pump sprayers that James sells is much better and comes with a cone nozzle, I went through a few pressure washer guns, they just don't hold up to the strong bleach and acids but the pump does hold up great.

I used this for bad spots using 50/50 bleach and stronger and also for the bad car wash bays using the strong HF acids to get that crap off of the walls, always rinse out the pump with at least a gallon of water when using strong chemicals and the pump will last you a long time.

Over in the Pressure Washer Friends group on facebook there were contractors complaining about that ips sprayer and the inventor was there denying all their claims and saying how nobody ever has problems with it, this was back in April or June of 2016 if I remember correctly. I know they have since changed the design but still use weak seals, glue comes apart and some other issues.

It is a nice idea if it was built for contractor use and had seals that would hold up to the strong chemicals most of us use but it is not there yet, maybe the next design or two it might be.

I don't mind building things, sometimes I just like to buy something already built and in this case, James had tested different pumps for years to find a brand that has good seals in it so it would last with the chemicals most of us use and he has a winner there. I did not think it would last spraying the HF acid on these car washes but when finished I rinsed it out good then ran some soapy water through it and water again and it keeps on working until recently but I still got over 2.5 years out of the pump which I consider great.

I like to have spares/backups of things so I keep a spare pump and battery for when they go out. The battery terminals corroded and came off of the battery, my fault for not putting the dielectric grease on the terminals like James mentioned to do, our salt-air climate here on the Gulf of Mexico makes things corrode or rust fast.

Just thought I would share my experience with the Chem Caddy with you guys.

the new ips pro lasted a full season and definitely paid 10 fold for itself but still had issue of bad seals and SH running down wand when pointed up (99.9% of the time) and since housing is not sealed well at all, the chems and water get into the electrical contacts and leaves the trigger stuck "on". Only way to stop it is to pop the battery off.
Eventually all the circuits are corred beyond use.

died and trashed it.
but it made me money.

Now I have the small portable 2gpm working out great. just need to tweak further.

I stopped using triggers for spot sprayers and roof rig a few years ago and never looked back. I use 1/4" and 3/8" pvc ball valves I get from McMaster -Carr,..Very easy one handed operation and they hold up really well,...no springs or seat to corrode. I also went to 1 GPM pumps this past season,..uses the proper amount now,..instead of too much that just gets wasted anyhow.

Hey Chris,..I never seem these small types at Lowes or Home Depot. They are small,..with small handles. Easy one hand operation.

I used a page from USPlastics to show you,...McMaster-Carr is acting goofy and won't hotlink,..either way same thing. There is also a 3/8" in this design.
